It's basically an anticheat engine thats almost as same as the normal? Well anyways when i tried to install r1q2 again to my new computer i got a troijan virus from the installer. It's not bad cause my virus protection easily took care of it but the engine wont run because of it. I remember the virus was on some .dll file you need to run r1q2. Can someone host a zip file of R1Q2?

May be a false positive but you should report it to r1ch I guess. I should have an older copy of r1q2 at home, I can check that later. But the better solution would be to talk to the author so he can fix the original upload instead of uploading old versions elsewhere.

AVG always identified R1Q2 as a trojan (or at least some elements) on my machine. There was a big stink about this in a few Q2 circles four or so years back, it all came to nothing in the end...I seem to recall that it has something to do with the updater. Avast has no problems at all with R1Q2. Or, maybe R1ch was an evil genius and has retired to some unkown Caribbean island with all the swag he siphoned from all the wealthy Q2 players

The problem is the Heuristics in AVG. Even when it doesn't find a specific known virus it looks for traits common to many virus'. Specifically it's the anticheat.dll (or similar name). It's compressed with a little used type of compression that is very common to some virus'.
In a virus this compression helps it avoid scans, in the anticheat.dll it helps keep people from cracking it to make it not work. All you need to do is add that file to your exceptions in AVG scans.
Personally I don't like having any file exempt from scans, so I just deleted it.

From the AC forums... www.r1ch.net/forum/index.php?topic=1777.msg9941#msg9941If your anti-virus software shows an alert regarding anticheat.dll, please make sure you have updated your anti-virus to the latest definitions / signatures. If you continue to get an alert, please post the vendor, product name, product version and definition version of your anti-virus software. As of this post I have contacted all major vendors to report their false positives so there should be very few cases left. That was in 2009, later in 2010 he gave up www.r1ch.net/forum/index.php?topic=1858.msg10333#msg10333"Due to the way the anticheat executable is built, you may get a pop up from your anti-virus software saying the file is infected, or it may simply appear not to load when you try to use it. This is a false positive, meaning the detection from your anti-virus software is wrong. I tried at one point to email all the anti-virus vendors and have them fix this, but since there is no easy way to contact them all at once, it has become too much work to do for every single anti-virus product. So now you will need to add anticheat.dll to your anti-virus ignore list or exception list."
