That me dear lad is the result of a mapper who did not know his arse from a hole in the ground trying to do something "cool" whilst making jump-pads. 12 is the fist map where I actually "got it" with layout and item placement... It was many MANY more down the road before I "got it" with lighting and detailing. (I am still working on all of it btw). THIS is a shot from the seldom seen "redux" of 12, it is m12a and a vast improvement over the original.

yess, time for some "Maricology". for some time now I felt the urge to discuss about your earlier maps with you, but .... uh ... shy little me and so .... didn't dare it. nuff said. the earliest Maric map I like is marics10 ( where the hell is marics11 ? ). I always liked the look of marics12, and in the remixed version marics12a all the glitches of the original are fixed, including these incredibly inane "water-jumppads". what is with the Maric - maps earlier than 10 ? I managed to find marics5, the original. must have been some time ago. can't find it anywhere again. the skybox was missing, but I substituted it with one I considered adequate. this is from a time when Maric knew nothing about jumppads. but he would learn it soon I also got a map called marics6a. this one looks a bit like a premature scetch for marics10. not a good one, while marics5 already has this special Marics - touch and should be fun to play. Maric, what I really would like to know, when did you create the marics_d1 to marics_d4 maps ? these are all time favorites of mine. they were obviously an experiment with high - res textures and therefore look incredible. ( yay, we had a discussion about this lately, and maybe I managed to convince you that high-res textures are not generally the performance killer as they were seen. I see great possiblities in their use ...... ) okies, back to our maricologic excursus.. I found screenshots of marics1, but not the map itself. guess that's a funny one. would like to get it into my hands. where are marics2, marics3, ... , marics8, marics9 ? do they really exist or were they thrashed before they were released ? I guess there are more mappers that are also collectors and map archivers. so what about a bit of fan service, Maric ? Maybe providing a download link for your earliest maps ? I definitely would like to see them, especially marics1.

I would be very interested in these maps... regardless of their good or bad parts.... I am taking my time... but generating a text list of map file names only.... and I am at 6,366 maps..... with (4) more old disks to look over. So Maric_Maps 1 through 9 would be SWEET!... uh.. and or any other "hard to get/find maps"

Hey!!!
I forgot to come back and reply to this one. I posted the pic and then went out for the evening... From there life just got bizzzz4hy.
I will gather the "junk/crap/trash/garbage that is/are/be my first eleven maps, throw them all in one zip and put a link up here.
Should be good for laughs on all your parts and really good for some serious embarrassment on my part.

not sure. I think it will be instructive to see this maps. the way you went until your first really accomplished maps will become more comprehensible. these are important "missing links". or so I suppose. but we will see.
