I thought it was time for another contest what do you guys think? Since all I've been seeing is all talk and no maps atm, I'm sure everyone is busy with that thing called real life but its about time we got some new maps out there.
I'm not much of organizer so I'm asking for your help to host it. I think for any contest to succeed now you would have to keep the maps small and simple with some sort of restriction on size. Possibly having only default content allowed and with a small time frame to complete the maps in i.e. 2 months.
One last thing. Instead of having placings in the contest, maybe having someone that could review the levels after they are done would be a bonus, what better inspiration than having someone to help suggest on what you did good, what you could of done better to help improve your work next time you make a map.
These are only a few ideas but whats you thoughts on this guys? It would be great to help spread this across several forums to get some fresh blood into Quake 2 mapping too.

I think there's already a thread about this.

opening a new thread for something is not the biggest problem of all. about the next contest, I'd say it is inevitable this year, probably in spring. hopefully it will rock.

well, it's gotta be autumn for the inhabitants pf oz then. something like next april ? likely. always estimating that there are still ppl who take an interest in participating a contest. for myself, I have by not given up on editing - I'm toying around with a lot of stuff currently.

I'm game for the next contest, and shouldn't be too pressed for time around spring.. (feb-may) During the early summer my company gets ludicrously busy tho.

A plain straight out best CTF map contest would be awesome.

Maybe we should try something new; what about open space maps?

Okay.. how about another single player one? Would be cool if we maybe gave a small starting plot, or even a map of a level, and people need to come up with a next level for it? I've been dying to see a good nextmap to "city1" : (

From what I have seen, a CTF contest has never been done, so that would be new...
You know, while we are at it, why don't we organize a modeling contest? A player model contest for Quake 2 would be awesome, considering a new PPM hasn't been released in a long time...
