are there many more advanced jumping techniques?
I prefer the "kamikaze" jump... not sure if anyone else calls it this but I do... Its when you charge an opponent head on and double jump straight at them. then wheel your mouse down towards your feet in midair. I usually follow up with a left click on the mouse..lol. If timed correctly you can literally land your feet on their head, and shoot them in the top of the skull. it's good to have armor if they are armed with anything other than a blaster.
I use this jump with the super shotgun most of the time. bots don't stand a chance against it.

I'd rather try to frag a jumper. with my blaster.
Actually I'd really just like to hear more about this side of Q2... I'm mostly into the killin shit aspect of the game.
I move fairly well around the maps but I tend to only jump when I need to get somewhere higher up/lower down and when I need to avoid heavy fire, I jump behind cover or straight over the enemy (see above post). Mostly I only do the kind of jumping that you can do in CounterStrike. I was kinda blooded on CS, so I'm much more comfy with that style of control... I've even got my keyboard/mouse set up the same as my old CS binds..
In short.. please enlighten me (all of us) on the finer points of advanced jumping techniques. we gotta talk about something in here! and it might as well be jumpin!

well, there are so many different ways you can use jump! in a dm... like when you're low on health and need to get away quickly.. or when u need to jump to the mega_health and can't do a silly rocketjump.. or when you wanna jump from the high rocketlauncher and straight to the ammo_rockets on the other side in the Edge!!...

I've been frequenting a north american q2 community called tastyspleen.net recently, and they actually have lots of guys left who still play the jumpmod. also, their better 1v1 and TDM players also tend to focus a lot on technically difficult jumps and really fast movement skills. They have some good demos and tutorials for those who are interested in learning how to jump around like a crazed toad, with a chaingun, while running full-tilt across the map. Here's a link to the jump demos forum. tastyspleen.net/quake/forums/index.php?board=21.0enjoy!
