That looks great Grieve good work man. I'm guessing it was a task of blending textures between the games? Or am I way off. I'm no mapper for sure. hehe Looks pretty smooth and cool lighting there.

well, converting them for Quake 2 is not the problem, since the pk3 files of Quake 3 are simple zip archives that can be opened with winzip. the Q3 textures themselves are originally in tga and jpg format, they can be easily batch-converted with Wally to Quake 2's wal format. some of them require image editing though, namely such textures which are used for special effects or animations, or those which are supposed to be used as masked textures with invisible parts, like the grate in the middle screenshot. this feature is implemented in Q2 quite inadequate and requires some tricks to use. some are also just too big and must be cut in pieces, the maximum allowed size of textures in Q2 is 512 x 256 (sic). the standard wall textures, however, are 256 x 256 in Q3 and can be used in their originally size and form for Q2. they translate really very well into the Q2 palette, they look indeed better than in Q3 itself. ;D

Not sure if the teleporter floating in mid air is plausible!

oh come on Fiend! how many teleporters have you ever seen (in real life) floating or non-floating?
I figure the BFG isn't plausible, none of those damn LOX weapons are plausible, teleporters aren't plausible, jump pads kinda are...(but dont let me get sidetracked).... The power screen isn't plausible.....
*rambles on incessantly

;D fi3nd is not completely wrong with picking on that, since it was me who brought up the formula of "map plausibility". my thoughts about this would be: the frame of plausibility for a map depends on the environment this map is supposed to exist in. in this case it is a "gothic" map, which means this is a fantasy based world. a world where sorcery and demonic forces exist. so a teleport like this, while it would look displaced in a technical, materialistic world like Stroggos, has a certain plausibility here. it was not created by technology but thaumaturgic arts.

I could do that, but then you have to promise me to stabelize my karma when needed... sounds like a fair trade. it is agreed.
