I kind of expected this to hit last. It is a great map actually, it just looks like crap. LOL, sorry I said it.
There is not even lighting. I'm sure that a tiny bit of lighting and texture work would place this thing higher on the list.
Other than the visuals, this map plays like the usual giant 16+ player map. It's got tons of rooms with tons of options. There are plenty of normal mapping no-no's that this map pulls off without a hitch. Things like giant ladders, long falls, and dead ends. Being a giant map, and playing with most sections acting like their own self contained deathmatch map (with interconnectivity to other self contained deathmatchmaps) is it's big strength.
I doubt that we will enter a situation with enough people to get the full effect. My own entry from the last contest fell to this same issue. An otherwise fun map that is unplayable with less than 8 people.
I'm still rip roaring and ready to go on this one. I want to get 16 players on it and prove that it is the excellent fun 16+ player map that I know it to be.

After playing it and macanah's map, I actually prefer this map by far compared to mac's. Despite the lack of any sort of lighting, it doesn't look like a jumbled mess of brushes. It could have gained much more points if it had any sort of lighting.

Well, It's my second Q2 map. I knew I would be last. It's not an actually bad map but, it would have been much better if you actually worked at all on the lighting.

Me + ladder at railgun = Pissed off people. I'm actually wondering how to break it if anyone else pulls the same thing.
Although big, I dont think you need a ton of players, the areas are easy to get to. If one area isn't busy the next big area is just a couple of straf's away.

It's big but you can strafe-jump through the areas very quickly because most corridors just go straight. The lack of lighting makes it hard to guess distances and see your enemies. RG is very powerful on this one of course and its placement ain't perfect as reflex mentioned. The map still has some interesting spots to fight in and it is not bad for a second map build in the limited time frame of a contest.
I know that lighting is a very time-consuming thing, especially on a large map like this one. The use of minlight and sunlight can speed the process up considerably though and it makes your map look so much better. Give it a try for your next map darkrain!

I did have a blast with the rail ladder, so many ways to camp it.
From the top, from below the walkway, from the top of doorways, from the top of the columns below rail...
eventually barton got a hold of it and I had to explore other areas.
