Everyone can be a judge in this contest So vote away.. now! Go here to vote: leray.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=q2reloadedcontestYou might wanna use the Cafés old judge rules, as an inspiration or as a guideline: 1 - Texture work - Should be neat and clean and fit well together.2 - Originality - Map should have some originality and not a copy of another map.
3 - Game Play - Map should be fun to play on and not boring.
4 - Weapon/Health Layout - Items should be placed throughout the map for easy access.
5 - Extras in the map - Map can include secrets, jump-pads/elevators, traps, etc.
6 - Lighting - Should be pleasant to the eye.
7 - Sounds - Maps should include sounds that fit with the environment
8 - Connectivity - Map should flow smoothly from one room to another.
9 - Technical - This includes r_speeds, brush manipulation, map scaling.
r_speeds: High r_speeds = less tech points. 1000 (+/- 100) in small areas and up to 800 in general will be acceptable r_speeds while anything over 1500 should severely reduce the technical score as this makes the map unplayable for some users.
Brush manipulation: Complex brush manipulation deserves to be credited.
Map scaling: Proportion of things amongst each other as part of effective architecture.
10 - Subjective opinion/observation - Judges own opinion on map. Breaking from the categories, what map did judge like over.
Good luck! Note: you have until 21th. February, before the polls is locked and the result will be in. And thanks to the mappers, which once again has given us some amazing maps to play. -W1

Thanks for setting this up!
@the other mappers who participated (margaal, maric): I'd suggest we also vote but we do NOT vote for our own maps. Or should we not vote at all?

Cool! Nice work Wixen, great maps lads. When I can move my arm a little more comfortably I'll play around in the maps and give my impressions. They all look great and unique (all as in the ones that ain't mine). This was a nice mash-up of diverse ideas. As for voting, I'll refrain, I couldn't really make a decent assessment until I could actually play them and I DO NOT want to hold things up. Oh and YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAA! The issue I was dealing with (and mentioned briefly before) was horrible swelling under my left arm and resultant, problematic lymph nodes. They call what I had "reactive lymph nodes" which can be good (sort of), bad, ugly and or deadly depending on the causation. My fear was some iteration of lymphoma (cancer), though there's no concrete proof that it is hereditary, there is/was family history hanging over my head...needless to say, the last few weeks have been tense. The surgery went smoothly, the doc did have to dig out two, one of which was 2 inches (they should be about 1/3 of an inch) and surrounding tissue. A few nights later he called at 10pm, we're early to bed typically, so I was still in a groggy state when he gave me/us the great news. I was still able to dance a pain-killer induced jig and shout out a good ol' redneck yippie-ki-yay or two. Now I just have to heal up and GOD help me...grow the dang armpit hair back, asap! Ya' don't know import having man-jungle-hair-growth in the pits is until you lose it. I have a cool pic of the incision, staples and wound...wanna see it Oh and I guess I don't get any sympathy vote now eh?

EDIT: So if Maric doesn't vote I guess none of us mappers should vote.

I haven't seen Laura around since Tastyspleen.net stole and published the contest maps on to their servers before the maps and contest was finished/over. Maybe she just gave up on those 4-6 criminals, who seems to control the TS.net, I just don't know. -W1

I have no idea though about what's going on between those mentioned above (don't really need to know either, sounds like mad-crazy net drama). It's good that at least someone is doing something with the maps. Keep us informed if you can.
