Nice pics. That map looks to have a real high quality old-school feel to it and that's a very good thing.
I'm looking forward to spending time in it.

Thanks you Sir. I put a lot of time and effort into making this. I just hope it comes out good in the end. I keep finding ways to make it better thanks to the great people here at the cafe.

Great work DirtDemon, it looks like you've put a lot of effort into quite a big, cleanly textured map.
Usually having that amount of powerful items would be overkill for a map, but I think it suits this one well and will make it a fun FFA frag fest.
KMQ2 makes water or lava in this case look very sexy, it would be great if everyone used it for online play. Overall the lighting seemed a little dull upstairs compared to beautiful fiery glow from the lava downstairs, it just felt like it needed a little more lighting or boost from the sky above.
I did get a small console error running your map with R1Q2:
'GAME WARNING: Attempt to play sound 'dd21/woodcreak2.wav' with illegal attenuation 4.000000, fixed.'
And the same with the sound down near the railgun.
Anyway, you did a great job on this and I'm sure it will be a lot of fun to play in the servers.

I tried to balance each weapon and item as much as possible by building the map in sections and then connecting them in a way to keep the r_speeds down.
The liquid effect in kmq2 is truly amazing especially when using surface lighting. It seems to give off light depending on depth which I really liked. All other lighting was done with entities except for a small amount of world lighting. I actually thought the map was too bright and had toned it down some.
I had some trouble with the sound from the teleporter area leaking into the next room. It is my understanding that attenuation is how far away sound can be heard. As I recall, changing the values had no effect. I ended up making a few extra brushes to hide the problem. Perhaps it is the sound file itself...I'm not sure.
Many lessons learned in this map...thanks to Margaal !! hopefully my skill level has improved.

I know I'm late in commenting on this, but this map is just superb. It has elements (lava + ambient sounds) that remind me of The Goth by Silveracer, but with a lot more detail.
