New map for your pleasure

Hi,
I held my own speedmapping contest just for my own pleasure, took me two days ans endless nagging from my girlfriend ( what are you doing all the time in front of your ******* PC ? ). But I think the result is worth it.
Its called deadlyhalls and I designed it for deathmatch for about 4 - 6 players. Any comments, suggestions and tips are always welcome and needed as I am just beginning to map, so I need your opinion and input to get better.

I got the same missing texture errors (7 of them) after removing the Rogue and Xatrix .pak files from baseq2. KMQ2 doesn't spam the console trying to load or download textures that have already failed

You gotta make sure that the textures you're using are in pak0.pak or pak1.pak under baseq2, or include them with the map, or else specify that a certain mission pack is required. MapSpy can help with this.

Also, you need to learn how to use the pointfile output (mapname.lin) made by qbsp to locate leaks and fix them. Putting a box around your map only makes it run slower, take much longer to compile, and bloats the file size.

You also generally shouldn't release your very first mapping attempt. Just keep it for reference and work on improving your skill until you can make something that begins to resemble maps that get run on servers. In years past, such first attempts would often end up here.

Thanks for your tips, I guess I have to learn much more. I was thinking those textures were standard ones. I think I will just delete that link, before anyone puts it on the list. :-)) or ruins his eyes ;-) . Thanks again for telling me, I`ll archive it for myself.
