Is anyone interested in a Double Damage powerup, as a reduced alternative to the Quad? As the presence of a Quad can lead to too much focus on controlling it, or cause other players to hide when someone gets it, a double powerup could allow for dynamism without unbalancing things.
I can add code for this to my custom build of 3ZB2 if enough people are interested. A model and sounds would still be need to be made, but those can just be modified versions of the Quad's model and sounds.

Doesn't a Double Damage power-up exist in the Ground Zero mission pack? You could borrow the model and sounds from there.

That's exactly what I don't want to do, as ripping those isn't exactly legal. EDIT: I went ahead and added it. Here's the 3ZB2 build with this implemented (for both vanilla Q2 and KMQ2): www.markshan.com/knightmare/downloads/3zb2_lazarus_1.2.4.zipThe following items are still needed: models/items/ddamage/tris.md2 (skin specified by above model) sounds/misc/ddamage1.wav sounds/misc/ddamage2.wav sounds/misc/ddamage3.wav pics/p_double.pcx

Well, I doubt you'll get into trouble for ripping it. Rogue Entertainment is now defunct, anyway.
From a pure gameplay & balance standpoint I do like the idea of a Double Damage instead of a Quad Damage, but the latter is so iconic to the series that it would feel off not having it around.

It's id (Bethesda now, anyway) who owns the mission packs, and they said no to the Weapons Factory mod when they asked for permission to use the disintegrator weapon model from the Ground Zero pack. So the WF team ended up making their own model.
Anyway, in case users want to play with the original model/sounds, I've come up with a way for mods to mount the mission pack .pak files. This will be in the next update to KMQuake2, and the code for it is simple enough to copy/paste to any other Q2 engine.
