AIR EPURATOR FINAL VERSION:
This is a map I created to play with my friends. It took me several days to build it, due to the open nature of that map. Quake 2 engine has its limits and "Vismap overflows" were the main sources of having to recompile the map after almost each modification. Extract all the files in your quake2/baseq2/ directory (keep path names from the zip file) and at the Quake2 console type "map airpur". This map works well with Eraser-Ultra bots too. Making this map took up a lot of my free time, from time to time.
If you like this map, consider sending me Dogecoins at this address: DJBZHiicbqGSFdECHXHFXua17qTthxgCLJ
Changelog version 1.0 final:
* Corrected most of the textures and/or changed some * Optimizations of all kind. The map is now faster to run on older machines * Used Qoole -> TrenchBroom (for textures) -> Tread 1.12 (reduces considerably the complexity of the map file) -> qbsp -> qvis -> arghrad
Changelog version 1.0 rc1:
* Map name changed to airpur.bsp * Added a combat zone outside * Better gameplay
* Removed stuck items

well, if it is your first effort, then it is not so bad. interesting, very vertical layout, and I liked the transparent floors. some odd stuff too .... the water areas are a bit weird. and you get messages of items stuck in brushes when starting. the idea of earning money with Q2 - mapping you should give up some of the best mappers, like Marics or Jester (and the rest) worked for nothing but honor. that's the Quake 2 scene for you. still fun, being creative.
let them come ....

Hello,
Thanks a lot for your feedback. I created that map mainly for fun. I plan to make improved versions from time to time. I have done a lot of local networks with an earlier version of that map in the past. The water areas may seem a bit strange at first, but ultimately they participate in the gameplay.
If you have any suggestion, I will be happy to include modifications in the next release.
Kind regards

Hello again.
When you talk about messages of items stuck in brushes, which Q2 client gives these messages?
Best regards

The item code (specifically the droptofloor stuff) in my v3.24 patch is 100% stock, so that is an issue with all Q2 engines/game libraries.
EDIT: How long were you using that K6-2/256MB machine? That's some real vintage hardware. You should definitely do all compiles on the mobile i5, using -threads 4 to utilize all four cores.

I have that machine since 2003 I think. Still working great for retro games, but of course, I compile maps on a more recent core I5 (on the K6/2 it would have taken 30 hours of so).
This was the good old times of remaining 3DFx cards, very old SCSI hard drives you could reuse from the DOS era, by compressing the filesystem...
Well good memories indeed.
