Q3 - styled map, mostly wide open areas .... comes with a kmquake2 - version (grievearena02.pk3) A lot of use of transparent textures .... but should work on most Q2 engines / source ports. Only on Q2e it didn't look good.

Those grate floors and supports look so much better with alphatest.
But you forgot to include the envmap, sounds, and most of the textures in the pk3.
EDIT: There are also some loose textures extracted from baseq2/pak0.pak that are redundant.
I'll give it a few rounds with bots when I have time.

well, I didn't forget these resources, I skipped them because the archive became too bloated. only added what was essential for kmquake2, that's the grate- and girder textures and their TGA - equivalents. kmquake2 can share the rest with other q2 engines. yah, forgot to remove the standard pak0 - textures.

Interesting! According to your other maps, you have your own unique style. The most noticeable trait are large open areas. Sometimes it looks cool, but with small amount of players it becomes a disadvantage. Best of all I liked your map grievecon04_02, I've tried it a couple times with my friends. IMO, in this map some areas look really dark. Or it just seemed to me?
BTW, what editor did you use?

oho .... this grievecon04_02 map was my constribution to Q2 - Cafe's 4th mapping contest in 2006. LOL ! when the deadline came, I didn't have nothing but a pile of brushes. I asked to lenghten the time a bit, and so the deadline was moved 3 days. then I had an awesome stress to totally rebuild something ... came up with this map, but it wasn't finished at all, therefore I called it *Sorry Excuse*. missing detailing, not enough connectivity, etc .... it was rather a raw sketch of a map.,
grieve03 is the finished version, you should habe a look at this too, if you like the raw version. got even a mail from russia, some dudes who played both if these maps pointed me to a misplaced player start in grieve03
which map do you mean is really dark ? the contest map ? well, I alsways set gl_modulate on 2 as default.
would be cool if you could do some playtesting on grievearena02 with your friends. feedback is welcome.
and .... I use Quark. nice curved doorways !
