Honestly those curves had me convinced it was actually Quake 3! If not for the title and you saying it was made for Quake 2

curved brushes are a major feature of Quake 3, and when you decompile the map for Quake 2, all of them are gone and you have to find something to replace them. fortunately, the Quark level editor has shape buiding macros for creating curves, arches, bevels with using conventional brushes. they look quite convincing.
