I just can't get over how great those curves look! You truly are the master m! I've tried and tried but bending a surface over more than 1 axis is still way beyond me.

Just think "triangles". Complex cubed brushes get real funky with .bsp but triangles can work wonders. I am finding that any shape is possible with patience and a little trial and error. In not so much time I will make a .map available which will have all of the basic parts (just like that last pic) and I think that once you get your hands on it you will understand a lot better. It's almost simple once you get a handle on it. One last tip... The clipping tool is your friend.

Yeah, I just stick with the grid; with grid 0/off, things can get out of hand.

i have a huge bunch of prefabs that i made when paril told me about this if maric wants to play around with them..... www.skies.clanwos.org/sp_prefabs.zipive tried to texture them best i could. if you [maric] want the .map ill send it.

Great stuff, I'd love to have the .map. I'd like to get a in-game feel for this mod before I try and crank anything "finished" out though... /me elbows the mod-guy in the ribs

maric: if you have Quark or want to get Quark, which is what I use, i can send you the qkm (quark map) instead. the benifits of the qkm is that it retains all my groups and builders. i have each prefab neatl in its own group if you still want the .map, PM me with your email addy and ill send it to you. quark.planetquake.gamespy.com/

And that is a nice feature which helps avoid loooooooong compile times. Quark in general is very counter-intuative for me to use. I do think though that it is a much more solid tool then Tread... but ya' know how that goes.

you could always cut and paste the ones you want to use into a new map(1 at a time) then export it as a regular .map file. that would be all you'd have to touch quark for... just grab one grouped thingy, copy it, paste it to a blank map and hit "save as" then open the .map with tread... forgive me for stating the obvious...

Good thing about .map, it breaks those shape builders into polys, so that you can texture each of the seperately instead of that one stripe that doesn't let you.
That's not always the obviously. Easier would be to split them into groups in QuArK, as Skies has already, then move them into a New Folder on your toolbar; instead prefabs in 20 seconds.

by the way i saw a some kind of skate mod for quake but i havent find a (working) skate mod for quake2 so is there ever been a quake2 skate mod before?
PS. im flyer! woot awsum 5 POSTSS

Well there is a skatepark DM for Quake 3 which is pretty fun when you use it with Q3Rally
