I did it with a switch in an old map. It was "shootable" or "pushable"
-I used a func_button and filled its target field with "on" (the specific name doesn't matter) Make sure you have the trigger reset, set to the duration + or - the amount that your .wav needs to play
-I used a trigger_sound_player and named it "on" attenuation -1 and spawn flag 0
-And lastly I used a relay_trigger and with its target as "on" too. I didn't need to set any toggles for it or name it. The time before triggering should be 0.
The func_button and the relay_trigger should both be linked to the trigger_sound.

The best in my opinion.

Next best.

Make sure you only run that sucker in a "sandbox" eGames are notorious for having all sorts of unsavory (not virus per se) mal-ware and ad-ware built into them.
They do make some great stuff but they seem to have no qualms about compromising your privacy. I have a version of their Mahjongg Master 3 but it likes to report back to the mothership if I'd let it. I had to "hack" out a probable key-logger from the dang eGame root folder that was installed.
Oh and cool! Like Wixen said...pics?

Aight...just finished.
The end is definitely abrupt but not so bad really. It was a 17 hour play through for me and I ignored as much of the racing and mini-games as possible, neither are really my thang.
While playing I remembered the other gripes I have/had...
- The knock-back from enemy melee attacks is ridiculous and feels one sided. They knock me all over the place and my hits seem to do little at all. Same goes when you shotgun them when they're running right at you, you hit 'em twice and they still get to you and knock the bejabbers out of you. - The weapon switching takes and eternity. When you change ammo type you have to wait through a long-ish animation too. - The damage feedback when using any sort of zoom or scope absolutely sucks.
My conclusion would be that there's a fabulous game in there but you have a lot of aggravating crap to either ignore or wade through to play it. So it's well worth playing (and probably replaying) but wasn't worth paying full price for me. I'm kinda-sorta wishing I spent the money on Gears 3...but then again I feel that that I owe id an awful lot considering they birthed the brilliance that is Q2.

I was playing along steadily for a week or so but had to slack on it a bit and begin closing down the camp for the winter season. I'm not all that compelled to continue, I will but more-so to finish than to be re-immersed.
My time in-game has been a mixed bag though. My compliments and criticisms are almost verbatim of so many reviews.
Pros - The game (blurry textures aside) looks absolutely stunning. - The gun-play is very fun. - I'm 3/4 of the way though and the environments and enemies have been varied enough to remain fresh. - Some of the weapons feel very powerful, some not so much. The sniper rifle, pistol, shotgun and crossbow with exploding bolts are my mainstay. - The npcs are varied enough with great voice acting. - The game length (I play through games at a snails pace) is fine. At 3/4 through I'm at about 13 hours.
Cons - The driving is superfluous. - The racing is boring, the tracks are bland. - The rocket rallies are one of the low points of the game. Twisted Metal did this sort of thing much better. - While the world looks fabulous, there's practically no life to it. It feels like you're in virtual game map within a game, not a game world. - There's very little environmental interaction. The clipping is aggravating to say the least and ruins any sense of real exploration. - The player movement feels odd to me. Maybe it's due to me playing the 360 version but when you stop moving you don't really stop. You seem to slide a bit which is difficult to predict. It reminds me of the original Turok game. This "effect" makes aiming a lot more difficult than it should be with a controller. - There is no way to change the hud or crosshair BOO! The automap is not transparent and sits over far too much of the upper corner of the screen. I've read criticisms that say that this is a "consolization" issue...nope! I've played many games that give the player options and choices.
Overall, I'm enjoying myself more than not but I'm regretting the day-one-full-priced purchase just as I did with Doom 3. I may have finally learned my lesson where it comes to parting company with my very limited $ where id games are concerned. Quake & Quake 2 were definitely the high water mark for me.

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE! It is pretty freaking amazing. A few hours in, it's linear in large part but feels very Quake 1&2-ish mixed some minor rpg elements. I'm playing the 360 version and it looks incredible. Lol..any screenshots?.. -W1 I don't have the whatever it is peeps use to take screens with the 360. There are many screens at the Rage webby though. It does have a tendency to lock-up completely (it's somewhat random) when new mission messages are about to pop up on screen. It's the only truly frustrating bug I've come across so far and compared to what the PC crowd has had to deal with...it ain't a big deal. Shame on id though for releasing such a buggy game on any platform. And I guess I'm going to end up more than a little pissed that so much of the world is clipped. I remember interviews and vids with the id folk saying that "if you can see it, you can go there". NOT!

Aight, life's slowing down a bit.
I was able to open the editor for the first time in months, this past and rainy weekend. I'm in IF there aren't any major themes/designations/restrictions. BUT, if that's the case, it's all good, I still got me the start of a couple decent map'n ideas for whtaever and whenever.
XOXOXO

I'm all for the thing, though I have no idea if I'll map for it. I'd like to but every time I think life is slowing down a bit it tops another hill and then away we go.
I'd be more likely to do something if the them (if there is one) isn't too restrictive.

Check these guys out. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005GXW1VW/ref=dm_ty_alb?ie=UTF8&qid=1314376001&sr=301-1www.myspace.com/ashesremainwww.youtube.com/watch?v=62YiKOGTOakFair warning for those who are bothered by this sort of thing, they are a group of Christian guys. The music isn't "christian" in the typical/traditional/worst sense, as in, it doesn't beat you over the head with an overly-preachy or dogmatic message. There's no question about what they believe It's clear in the lyrics), but they communicate those beliefs through songs about real-life experiences rather than religious axe grinding. Oh and, the dirtbag looking drummer (just kidding of course, he's a great dude) is one of my nephews. Some of you may remember a Q2 player that went by the name "Mox". Ben the drummer is his "little" brother.

So I stop in as per usual Saturday morning to catch up and I see the "Never Forget" banner.
Awesome!
What a nice tribute. Big thanks to whomever did that. It's amazing to think about how much the world has changed due to that event. And sadly, it seems that most of it isn't for the good.
GOD bless!

Not me, but I wish I had that design element in my arsenal. If I did sketch something that made perfect sense on day 1, it certainly wouldn't on day 3.
I have three ways of designing;
1 - Start with a desired atmosphere and basic layout concept, build the first room with lighting and texture work all in place. Then I make the rest from there.
2 - I pick a texture set and mess around with it long enough for ideas to germinate. Then I slap some brushes together based on what I believe to work best.
3 - I use Nem's to make a terrain map based on an idea I have and then use the result as the basic "sketch" for the end product. I find that this is the easiest method for me to work with. See! I really wish I could sketch stuff out.
It's a lot of fun working from the designs and sketches that other people come up with, though I seldom get the chance to do so.

Because, it was nonsensical, strange and full of all sorts of babbling. Well, that post and the one previous were. I guess I'm getting grumpier as time goes by and have less patience, so forgive me my old-fart-tatude. And, that said, why start pointless arguments and unnecessary drama here? We've worked very hard to have a peaceful and friendly place for the old (and new) Q2-war-dogs to hang out. Well, I have no prob. in-old-farts-attitude, actually it seems those old farts have so more knowledge in every thing..they should be kinda respected. Iam really sorry I did not see the last posts of muullenuh(biitterman), but hey!, thats life I guess. -W1 No worries brutha' of a nutha' mutha'. You do a great job here and it's all good. We're kept on our toes and at the same time we don't get bored.
