Stomping in on the party here, but qFusion is based off of Quake 2's code base; with enough work you can successfully port the required files (g_ai, g_combat, m_*) to get monsters functioning. It will require programming expertise however, this has only been done in earlier ones like r5.

The brain and barracuda shark have some unused idle sounds. I added them back in the game DLL included with KMQ2. For the brain, is that the scope/eye piece adjustment sound? I think that that sound is not used in regular q2 but was used in one of the expansions. Correct me if I'm wrong. Negatory, I believe it is the walking-tentacles sound.. either that or it was a weird sound that really had no use. In any case, the indexlist/soundlist shows you all sounds indexed in current mod, be wary of this; this is not indicative of every mod working on the same map as different mods index different things.

I agree with KM, the Q2 path was intended to be x:\quake2\, and a lot of tools and docs state that for proper working-ness that's what it should be, although most new engines can handle now-standard paths (EGL is the one that springs to mind). Looking at your error message, it seems you have single quotes around the path, but one double-quote on the left; is this a bug in the message box or the way you set up the shortcut?

The only problem with teleporters inside the ground is some engines still show the particles. I've seen EGL display the particles in a bunch of maps.
The model key only works with items, as for reasons unknown they let the model key override the model.
