To answer the ship is not big when using bigviper model, it's because misc_vipers have a hardcoded model, it can't be modified via the model key, unlike ammo.

Well there's a 3 year old nostalgia attack right there!
The weapons were no different than regular Quake ones; use the inventory. I don't remember if I made something like "weapon 1" or "use weapon1", it's been a while.

Chillin mang. You'll see a new project (non-Quake related) coming here soon. Hopefully the Quake 2 Cafe can be the first people to have their own server for it -P

VCMDL.NET (a program of mine) supports md3 importing and eventually will support tags. It'll be released pretty soon.
A few engines support md3 but they need to be animated md2-style (doesn't support tags, etc).
If you have the model format from Legends perhaps you can find a converter to something generic like 3ds and then re-convert it into md2. As always you'd have to re-animate.

Oh, actually the only thing I can think of would be the installer for Q2; THAT will have problems due to missing files. I believe that that installer is using an ancient version of InstallShield that Windows Vista most likely stopped supporting when it was released, but this is an easy workaround; copy the "data" folder in the disk to c drive, rename to quake2, done!

Yeah if you just look at the file layout there's nothing problematic (unless they virused the game DLLs or something stupid). Have to agree about banning torrent links on here though Wixxy, we don't want any trouble!

Well no, I'm not saying that, what I mean is Quake 2 has no physical problems with 7 since it doesn't use any features that were removed from Windows 7 in terms of either the stdlib or Win32 API; anyone having problems with it would either be related to the fact that they are using the Steam version (which will have problems with it regardless) or the Windows 7 Beta, which also had problem with some older games in Software mode.
If anyone DOES have problems I'd love to help them out since I do have Windows 7, but I have a feeling it'd be related to something config-wise and not an actual compatibility issue..

Quake works fine on Windows 7; I run 7 and have had no problems with any engine. The installer off the disk does not work as it uses very old installer stuff that most likely doesn't even exist or work properly in 7.
EGL is possibly the most advanced engine in terms of support, it works the best on Windows 7 and Vista.

You'll have to debug the game; being sent back to console is usually the cause of gi.error being called.
