I love the bad vibes I get from here.
The way I see it, they're your fellow quake 2 players. Treat them with respect.

I think my evaulation suited the map just fine.
And aren't they called "Backshooters" ?
To call that place Backstabbia just seems... stupid.
You know, in my humble opinion.

Misty, I have yet to try your maps, but from the screen shots, let me give you a few bits of advice: 1. Less is more. That is, the less of the same texture, the better. I don't mean use a different texture for every surface, but try to vary it a bit more. 2. www.gamedesign.net <-- This is a useful website. Check out the Quake 2 mapping tutorials, I've found them EXTREMELY useful. 3. Learn how to shape brushes to FIT YOUR TEXTURES. This will make your maps easier to work with in the long run -- and better looking after a while. 4. More variety, less of the same. People hate wide open areas. I know this is a hard fact of like to deal with, but they just hurt. People like small areas that lead to big areas, and they like all of their big areas broken off from each other. Try starting with a big room in mind, then start thinking of how you can connect that big room to other big rooms, and try to figure out the entire concept within your head. It's a cool shivery feeling once you see it all come together in your head. Trust me. I hope these comments helped you in some way. I'll load up your maps some time, I promise.

I like the pure randomness of this map.

The map is cool... I was kind of disappointed upon reaching the top of the map and finding no item, but that's alright

untitled.riverviewrant.com/quake2/TheLearningEraMappack.zipThis is my first ever released mappack. The following pack contains a QuArK explorer file which includes the major leaps I made in my mapping career. The Learning Era Mappack contains the following: Purgatory: This includes the previously unreleased version of Purgatory that I slaved over, and advertised many times. It's not as cool as other version that I've made, but it's still pretty sweet. Canyon Oasis: This was my first real good map, in my opinion. It's a remake of the Dark Forces 2 level, "Canyon Oasis" which was one of the best deathmatch maps ever made. This was a final release, and there is a copy of it out there somewhere. Please don't compile this version and put it on your server, I'll provide the official link that I used. Deviant: This is a small map that I used to expand my knowledge of the QuArK tools. I liked the simple design I made, so I kept it around. Devine: This map was one of my first major projects after I decided to start taking mapping seriously. It's also one of my favorite looking maps, because it looks sweet. I love it. Le Ray Contest Maps (1,2,3): These were the start of contest maps that I was working on for Le Ray's Mapping Contest. Unfortunitely, I wasn't inspired enough to finish any of them. I did keep going with one map, however, but it was far to late in the game. That map is not included with this pack, and will be released at a later date. Battle Arena: This was my test for terrains and a some more curves in QuArK. I loved how this little thing turned out, but it never went anywhere. Outer Base: This started off as a test for e1u1 textures, and quickly turned into a remake of base1. The catch is that this was the base before the attack. This is another failed Le Ray contest map. Teleporters: These teleporters were supposed to be used for the Purgatory map, but were never used. I used the Hell Teleporter for vrxdm1 (Point Dot) later on. All these maps may be used and abused by you. I don't care much about credit, because I don't expect anyone to use these maps as a base, but if you do, good. It's nice that someone would finish these, because they will never be finished by myself.

Point Dot (vrxdm1) is now running on the Vortex servers, which just got reset. So all characters average around level 7-8... Now is a good time to start playing...
I used a rather old version of Arghrad I guess....
I'm not version.

I followed the procedure for Phong Shading, but I'm guessing it didn't work out right, it did fix a lot of curves, but some just wouldn't work.

I just finished the map tonight... I added some new stuff, and fixed that horrible deadend at the RL (you were right!). Also, see if you can find the secret message! I hid it in such a unlikely spot, it would take you hours to scour the map for it Or 2 minutes in a map editor. www.planetquake.com/vortex/yun/vrxdm1.zipNote: link is temperary -- It's being uploaded to Fileplanet ASAP. Maybe a review? Maybe LOTW? Yes, I have high hopes for a first map Thanks for checking it out, in advance. Yun

Simple. Ask her. The straight-foward method is usually best.
That is, if you can exude enough confidence to not sound like a dork while doing it.
If you like her, try hanging out with her a couple of times to break the ice. If she enjoys herself, ask her out on a date. This way you can avoid the whole "I like you, do you like me?" awkwardness.
Good luck.
