You really need some sky lighting in the map. Those entity lights don't look as natural and are distracting.

Man, it's looking good Wixen1! You're doing a good job on it! h0m3rc1d4l has a good point about the lighting, but that's something you can work on. Keep up the good work my brotha, can't wait to see the finished product.
"h0m3rc1d4l"...hmmm...seems like I know him from somewhere...I guess not.

you need ArghRad to light the map, Wixen. and use Quark, this enables you to costumize the light entities for the use with ArghRad. you can't do that in Tread. you can build the map in Tread, but when it comes to lighting it, load it into Quark and do the lighting there. I'll tell you more in a PM later.

Grieve, I used Arghrad with Tread 3D v. 1.12 and it worked fine for me. Maybe it works better with Quark?
If you need a copy of Tread 3D v. 1.12, just let me know and I'll send you a copy...oh wait...did I say that in public...sorry...I'll send you a private message...

sure, you can upload it there, Wixen. but you should do something for the lighting of your map. I sent you a PM. Grieve, I used Arghrad with Tread 3D v. 1.12 and it worked fine for me. Maybe it works better with Quark? If you need a copy of Tread 3D v. 1.12, just let me know and I'll send you a copy...oh wait...did I say that in public...sorry...I'll send you a private message... hmm, I've tested Tread only a short time. of course you can replace your QRad with Arghrad, and it does the same standard operations. but when it comes to making use of Arghrad's special features, then I found Tread being a bit restrictive, because you can't set custom keys for entities freely like in Quark. if I recall the discussion in Backstabbia about that correctly, then you have to do the light compiling seperately with a batch file when you want to take advantage of these special features with Tread. with Quark, you can do everything from within the map editor. you have full control over your entities.

Well, I just had to change one of my settings in Tread to allow Arghrad to work. I never used the special features, but I found it worked fine without them. I used it on my last 5 or 6 maps.

without using the special capabilities of Arghrad, you may use QRad3 or some other standard light compiler as well. the reason to use ArghRad is directional sunlight, phong shading, full control over attenuation and falloff etc of light entites, entity brush model light and other stuff.

wrong ? dunno if it's right or wrong. it's just unhandy when you use Arghrad as your light compiler. in the folder with build tools within your Tread3D directory is QRad3 as the standard light compiler. if you replace this with ArghRad (something every serious mapper does), then Tread won't support the custum fields and arguments you have to add to your light entities to make use of ArghRad's special abilities. whereas in Quark, you can add the keys and arguments ArghRad requires ( _falloff, _focus, _fade .... etc ) completely free to your lights or worldspawn. first of all you have to replace qrad3 with arghrad anyway, and tell your map editor that this is the light compiler to use.

Holy cow.....I lighted up the sky and remowed the invisible lights and re compiled it. Now the compiling takes 6 hours instead of 3 hours, man... But the size of the map went down from 2.4Mb to only 680kb.. A different screenshoot... Wixen1
