;D welcome to the Cafe, lockdown. I like especially "anotherrailmap" from your two maps. nice usage of colored lights, textures and architectural elements. the layout, although simple, gives a feeling of complexity. the whole thing feels really good. n1. gotta give it a try with bots.

;D well, actually I thought you are mistaking Quake 2's abilities with those of Quake 3. because Quake 3 has exactly this: brushes whose faces are described by bezier curves - curve brushes. the curves in Quake 3 are done in an entirely different fashion. since Q3 came out, people have tried to mimick those curves somehow in Quake 2, and tools have been made for this. arghrad is the default light compiler for Quark, but can be also found on other places. homepage is here: www.planetquake.com/arghrad/

Quake 2 has no such a thing as curvy brushes, dervish. they are comprised by usual brushes. shape builder plugins of editors like Quark can compose structures which resemble curves, and with the addition of a lighting trick by the light compiler ( arghrad, which lights these fake curves in a way as if they were real curves .... an effect which is called phong shading ), the illusion is nearly perfect.

this kicks ass, orange. awesome. these are the moments when being an admin of this place is fun. a new world record for the use of curves in Quake 2 !! really smooth. great lighting. nice extras. only one texture is missing, ceil1_611.wal this is not a baseq2 texture, guess it's from rogue or xatrix. so it should be included in the zip, or it will be missing for many people.

;D
we should not forget that this thread is primarily about the map, not so much about antipathies and attitudes .....

yes, a big, weird map. it's the soundtrack which makes the archive so huge. a stylish fragging headquarter for team BoD ? and those moving things are moving speakers for muzak in the corridors ? looks like they do nothing without sound there. weird & cool, but they shouldn't clip through the walls while moving, I guess. I recorded r_speeds up to 2500, but they could be higher. I suppose X7 used areaportals ?

"Old Roundchurch of Denmark" ? I'll try to predict the themes for your next maps: "Danish Viking Grave Fragfest" "The Danish National Museum Arena" "Christiansborg Castle" "Fragging in Carlsberg Glyptotek" etc.

the looks surprisingly good. really refreshing stuff. well done, man. nearly no light anomalies, couldn't find visibility errors, and this despite all the curves. I'll search harder this should be some fun stuff to play. but you will zip this file up, together with a text file, or else I'll kick your butt. releasing a file like this is an affront.

but of course you will agree that it could be much worse, Wixen. imagine your liver or renal would fail, and you would not be allowed to drink beer anymore .....

humm .... can it really be considered an edge variation ? dunno. some parts are quite "edgy", others are not so. the texturing is somewhat "unedgy" in some places. however, this is a nice performance. lots of stuff to explore, lots of places to run around. the way to the heavy weapons on the roof was nearly like a jump map. neat. I guess you are also a jump player ? there is a lot of jumping stuff in this map. what I didn't like: the inside of the buildings was a bit too dark compared to the outside areas.

cheers, ehm , flute. nice little rail map. some good ideas with texturing and architectonic details. from the size, it's either a duel map or a insta map for 3 persons. more would be too muchI think. and I'm glad you don't mind this banning thing. this was by mistake only.
