Here's a good rule of thumb...if you want to be like the best, just go and ask them what they use.
3fing3r3dfi3nd...what do you use again? Say it...SAY IT!!!

QERadiant is the best editor for Q2. It's really not that difficult and it works the best with the texture sets with no texture warping (Maric pointed this out to me years ago). GTK-Radiant is a more versatile version that works with other Id engine games (Q3A, Doom 3, etc...) so it would be a really great tool to use if you intend to take your mapping skills beyond Quake 2.

The sparks are part of the particle system and is hardcoded into the game. The only way to alter that is to make an entirely separate mod. What exactly are you trying to do?

I wouldn't use GTK-Radiant unless I was using it for other games in addition to Quake 2. QERadiant is the best dedicated editor I have used (at least I understood it better than other editors) and works perfectly for Quake 2.

You really need some sky lighting in the map. Those entity lights don't look as natural and are distracting.

Halo 3

I just installed Halo 1 like two days ago, which I purchased on ebay this year. well, gotta say it was not all that impressive for me. the setting on a ringworld might be a cool idea as such, but the game does not have the intensity to be really immersive, it felt like "it's just a game" to me. maybe I like it better if I continue playing ... let's see. How far are you into the game? And it pains me to say this, but the Xbox provides a better playing version of the game even without online multiplayer in the first game! The story line crafted by Bungie for this game is incredibly deep and I have enjoyed playing the single player more than the multiplayer. Multiplayer on Halo 2 and Halo 3 is prone to team killing, trash talking 12-year olds and if that wasn't enough, these same idiots have mics and you have to listen to their crap until you finally decide to mute them! But I digress...Halo on Xbox is better than the PC version despite the lower resolution. It simply runs better on the Xbox compared to the PC version which really blew my mind!

Halo 3

I guess technically, the world could have survived without any games at all, but then where would we be now if not on this board if Quake 2 had never existed?
BTW, beat the game on Legendary and it was fairly easy to finish...as long as you don't run headlong into a group of Brutes!!! There is an alternate ending to the game if you complete it on Legendary. I won't spoil anything here and you probably would find it difficult to find a clip of it anywhere since Microsoft loves controlling stuff like this.
For anyone on the boards here that is a fan of the Halo series, you owe it to yourself to finish the game on Legendary and enjoy the alternate ending.
For everyone else...Quake Wars is out for PC.

For me, it wasn't so much the multiplayer that drew me in as much as the single player story did. I thought it was well thought out by Bungie (the entire series...not just any single game) and can't wait to see what they do next, even though it won't be in the "Halo" universe.
I have been playing Marathon as well on my Xbox and despite it's aging graphics and dated gameplay, Bungie's story telling truly shines in that one as well.

What was your inspiration for your map? There are usually stories behind the ideas each mapper had when they envisioned their map before it was created.
