Anyone else notice the logo for the new movie, The Expendables, bears a striking resemblance to the Quake 2 invulnerability pickup? It could easily be a game logo!

You'd think so but the player sounds don't seem to obey that law. I tried replacing the death sound and even placing it in the players/male folder didn't work.

Somewhere on here are directions to connect your telepads and spawn pads with info_null (or notnull, I can't remember) and use them as destination points. They are completely invisible thus do not show effects or models. I used this method in the last mapping contest with my tiny lava room.

I like the textures in these hallways This hole could be bigger as it's difficult to drop down - you have to move slowly. I really liked the blue room! The upper floor provides ascent to the lowers walls. I felt the dark areas were too dark, consider using the _ambient_light flag. I could not figure out how to get into this room. - Mike

I'm big into Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts right now and I have a new job that pays decent for counter work. My breaks practically last all day . I've settled in back home again and my computer desk, which is 1 foot away from the side of my bed, has 2 systems with a pile of games on it and a 4-foot stack of open Lego boxes next to it. I haven't had any interest in Quake this year because I think it's too time consuming to draw a map 1 rectangle at a time. Farcry 2 has drag-and-drop and while that makes for some easy mapping, it also makes for some retarded kiddie throw-togethers too.. Maybe posting here will bring some inspiration. - Mike

7:20 Imagine you're on your coffee break and some jerk comes out of nowhere and grenade-jumps off your face. Where's the love?

How do I get Tastyspleen to connect me to an empty server or map that I already have (like a hub or start map) so I don't have to wait for Q2 to download a map and a bunch of files I won't be using?

(q2mmt3) Quake 2 Group Map Making Thingie #3
GOAL:
Make a single player map that links to a central hub map. These maps may be played in any order thus different strategies can be used. The layout of the central hub will be unknown until the end.
RULES:
- Any theme may be used and it can be as small or large as you decide. - You may incorporate any items, enemies and weapons you wish however you must set the Power Cube as the final collectible goal (so there can only be 1 of these in your map). The last level will require 1 cube from each submission to unlock the final area. - Set the entry/exit to link to map "q2gmmt3" and set the destination as your name.
trigger_multiple target exit
target_changelevel targetname exit map q2gmmt3$yourname
CONTENT:
You may use any textures and sounds as you see fit however please keep the system to vanilla Quake 2. (No Lazarus)
I will build the hub map based on the entries recieved. For example if someone submits the inside of a giant planetary defense gun, one may be seen from the outside in the hub.
DEADLINE: None as usual, whenever there is at least 5 or so submissions.
===========SUBMISSIONS================== Send submissions to mr.mikemccall@gmail.com with q2gmmt3 in subject.

It's looking for the software video version of the skybox (pcx). If you loaded the map in software mode it would not show up. Save a copy of the TGAs as .PCX and include them in the env folder. It's not needed, but anyone running an old-assed system won't be able to enjoy your lovely background
